About Our Church
Located just on the outskirts of Florida's capital city of Tallahassee is Aenon Baptist Church. Aenon is a Gospel centered church, dedicated to serving Christ and sharing His Word. Here, we worship our Lord together and seek to grow in Christ and to edify and encourage each other on our journey; as well as to serve and minister to our communities. Each Lord's Day we gather together to praise God through song, prayer and teaching from the scriptures. We also have Sunday School classes for all ages and weekly prayer meetings. We invite anyone and everyone to come and join us.
Aenon Baptist is a Southern Baptist Church and affiliated with The Florida Baptist Association, The Florida Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention; as such, our beliefs are in line with those stated in the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by Southern Baptist Convention. For an idea of what we believe and teach, you can see some of our primary doctrinal statements listed below. For more information, you can find the complete Baptist Faith and Message and other resources listed on the links at the bottom of the page.
We believe in One God, existing as three unique persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, yet without division of nature, essence or being. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and perfection.
Jesus Christ is The Only Son of God, The Second Person of The Triune God. In His incarnation He was conceived by The Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the atonement for our sins, rose again on the third day and now dwells at the right hand of The Father until He returns in glory.
The Bible is God's revelation of Himself, written by men under the inspiration of The Holy Spirit. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
The special creation of God, made in His image. He created them male and female, the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning man was without sin, but fell after disobedience against God, whereby sin entered the human race, with all men born under the condemnation of sin, in need of a savior.
Salvation is the redemption of the entire man and is offered freely through Christ to those who repent of their sins and believe in Him, by His death and resurrection. Salvation involves Regeneration, Repentance, Justification, Sanctification and Glorification. There is no salvation apart from faith in Christ.
The local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend The Gospel to the ends of the Earth.
The Lord's Day
The first day of the week is The Lord's Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ from the dead and should include exercises of worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private.
Baptism and Communion
Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a symbolic participation in and representation of Christ's death, burial and resurrection. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act whereby believers partake of the bread and fruit of the vine, to remember Christ's death and anticipate His second coming.
What to Expect
If you will be visiting us for the first time and would like an idea of what you can expect, each Sunday service begins at 11:00 AM. We have a fairly traditional service with a blend of classic and modern hymns. Services always begin with prayer and congregational singing, followed by a time of giving of tithes and offerings for those who wish to do so during a special selection sung by the choir. Afterwards, the sermon is brought forward by the minister and service concludes with a time of prayer and invitation. In regards to dress, you will find congregation members wearing anything from jeans and dress-casual clothing to dresses and suits; it's really a variety, so feel free to wear what you feel most appropriate. When you arrive, we have parking for guests and those with special needs towards the front and if you need help finding a seat, one of our ushers would be glad to assist you.
